Say It Don’t Spray It

Share it.

Share what you’re thankful for with the people you love. That’s my hope for you this week.

Whether you’re celebrating the holiday with a large group of family, chilling and relaxing on your own, or somewhere in between the idea of gratitude is going to be on our minds. Are you ready to share that thankfulness? I want to remind you, encourage you, challenge you, to share what you’re thankful for.

I say “remind, encourage, challenge” because you’re either: A. already planning on sharing what you’re thankful for B. nervous/hesitant about sharing what you’re thankful or C. not planning on sharing anything at all. Which ever bucket you fall you into, let this be your push.

I wanted to lay the ground work of vulnerability last week because there’s a certain level of vulnerability required for sharing what you’re thankful for. If vulnerability is exposing ourselves to our greatest opportunity of growth, then the vulnerable space we enter into while sharing our thankfulness opens us up to a deeper connection to those we’re sharing it with.

While you’re thinking about what you’re grateful for and you start to think about sharing it with the people you love there might be that small but loud voice in your head telling you not to. That voice that’s telling you that people will think you’re weird, people will not say anything back, it’ll make things awkward. Acknowledge that feeling for what it is, and move on from it. You can do hard things. And yes, sometimes saying what normally goes unsaid is hard.

There is no growth in the comfort zone. We have to get uncomfortable in order to grow where we want to grow.

Share it, friend. Share the gratitude.
