What will you dO?

If you could accomplish anything, knowing you wouldn’t fail, what would you do?

For real, before you continue reading take a minute and think about what your answer would be.

The difference between those who do and those who don’t is simply those who do. That can sound condescending, cheesy, or obvious but I think that doesn’t make it any less true. When there’s something we acknowledge as valuable to ourselves we have to be willing to take the first step towards what we value. However you answered the question, your desire is achievable—but not without action. We all at one time or many times have the tendency to want the certainty of the outcome before we make our move. We want a guarantee that we will not fail. But if there’s anything certain in life, it’s uncertainty.

You’re going to fail. It’s inevitable for everyone. That shouldn’t be a spoiler or a surprise, we all know it to be true. What prevents us from achieving, doing, and desiring what we want? Not just the fear of the unknown, but I think is that we have already given weight to the idea that we might fail. We are afraid of failure before we even start. We fail when we don’t begin. Just because failure is inevitable, doesn’t mean that what you want or hope for isn’t achievable.

So, knowing you’ll fail, what do you want to accomplish?

The only way to accomplish that is to make the changes necessary to get there. If nothing changes, nothing changes. The reality is all of us deeply desire change. We’re all hoping for something different. Whether that’s to move forward, to make a shift, or to continue to grow. In order to see change there has to be change. That change is a plant that comes from the seed of what are you going to do today.

What you do today is building toward your tomorrow. The secret of your future is hidden in your daily routine. What will you do today to ensure that the tomorrow you value, you desire, you want, happens?
