Who’s In Your Circle?

Let me set the scene. You’re at a point in your life where you’re ready to make some changes. You’ve set your goals, you’re doing the good and hard work it takes to get there, and you’re trudging along maybe even feeling like you’re running low on fuel. Maybe you’ve already made those changes and you’re looking for encouragement, inspiration, or motivation.

Potentially, that’s not you at all. You’re looking for some spark or inertia to get going but don’t know how or where to start. Possibly, you’re on the complete opposite of this and you’re feeling on top of the world about where you’re at in your growth as an individual working to achieve your goals.

No matter where you’re at on this spectrum (we’re all somewhere on that spectrum), you need your circle.

When it comes to pushing through the hard work to achieve your goal important to remember two things: you are not alone and you are not meant to do this alone. Growth happens within community. We talk a lot about setting goals, creating rhythms to check in on those goals and adjust where needed, and putting in the work to achieve those goals. But you can only get so far doing that all alone, you need your circle. You can call it a squad, a team, a community, whatever floats your boat. Today I’m going to refer to it as a circle. Who’s in your circle? Have you told them that they’re in your circle? There’s a reason why every list of actions to take in these emails says “share with a friend”. Because you’re not meant to do this alone! You’ll surprise yourself when you see what comes from being vulnerable. I think you’ll find that, most importantly, you’re not alone.

Ask yourself this:

  • Who is in your circle?

  • What prevents you from sharing openly with those in your circle?

  • What is something you can do/say to deepen the relationships in your circle?

Now, take it a step further and do something to move forward.

  • Define your circle.

  • Share with a friend.
